Why are my passionfruits not ripening on the vine

My 18 month old black passion fruit(Passiflora edulis)vine has produced vast amounts of green foliage. When it flowered in October 2013, the fruits grew to full size and then dropped to the ground. They were all green. Why doesn't the fruit ripen on the vine and turn black?

Fruit and Citrus • Physical Damage

Hi Jackson,

Sometimes a passionfruit may drop fruit if there is a shortage of water. Fertilising with too much nitrogen may also produce foliage and less fruit. Fertilise with Yates Thrive Flower & Fruit Soluble Plant Food as this fertiliser contains higher levels of potassium which promote flowering. Passionfruit generally come into production from 18-24 months so you may find a better crop next year. Mulch well around the base to stop the vine becoming drought stressed. Check for pests such as passion vine hoper or green vegetable bug which suck sap from flowers and young fruit.
