Can I prune my passionfruit and when is the best time?

Can I prune my passionfruit more than 30cm? It's an old vine, and should I do it now in spring?

Hi Nan,

At the end of winter beginning of spring is when you should prune your passionfruit vine. Depending upon how vigorous your passionfruit vine is, you can prune it back by about one third. Pruning back any harder is not a good idea as it will take a little time to recover. Once you have done the pruning, apply a fertiliser such as Blood & Bone or Yates Thrive Natural Citrus & Fruit Pelletised Plant Food. It's enriched with Dynamic Lifter and has added nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to give your fruiting plants the right balance of nutrients for their growing needs. I do hope your vine produces lots of delicious fruit for you.
