My 4 year old Magnolia is loosing its leaves. It was planted in ground and only a mth ago the leaves falling

It sounds like your magnolia is stressed from being moved.
Magnolias can suffer from stress when transplanted, especially when they are more advanced.  They will sulk for a couple of years after being transplanted and won't grow or flower very much until they are established in their new position.
