How do I get rid of spider webs on my LillyPilly?

I have spider webs on clusters of leaves in my lilly pilly trees which eventually kill the leaves. Solution?

Australian Natives • Pests

Hi Barrie,

You have what is called case moths. The larvae of the moth makes a bag like structure to protect itself while it feeds. They manage to camouflage themselves in among the foliage of the plant. The larvae stays inside the bag except that when chewing leaves, its head protudes. The bag will increase in size as the larvae grows. There is no chemical control so hand removal is the best method of reducing the infestation. Early detection is important so remove the bag-like structures when first noticed.
