Hi Dianne,

Hydrangeas can be affected with fungal problems but it is mainly powdery mildew that is their greatest enemy. If the black spot is only on a few leaves, it would be best to remove those leaves just in case it is a fungus of some kind. Keep the soil in the pot well watered and be sure not to water the leaves of the hydrangea during the hot summer months. Keep your pot out of the full sun to avoid the soft leaves from being burnt.
