Why is my Acacia Cognata losing its leaves?
This wattle has been dropping its leaves over the past few weeks and I've noticed the leaves have small 2-3mm brown circles all over them. I'd hate to lose this plant, any suggestions? I pruned it last year as it was getting too tall but it grew beautifully in spring. Could this be caused by too much watering? I've been fairly stingy with water but it's been hot so I've watered a bit more than usual.
Hi Julie,
Thank you for sending the photo. It certainly looks like a fungal leaf spot. It is such a stunning plant looking plant, I can understand why you wouldn't want to lose it.
You can try spraying with a copper spray -Yates Leaf Curl Copper Fungicide Spray. Apply now and repeat at 7 - 14 day intervals. Because the weather has been so hot lately, it has been necessary to water more than you normally would. Continue to water your plant, but perhaps improve the air circulation around the plant by moving back any mulch that is too close to the trunk and prune any plants that are encroaching. I am sure with a little TLC your beautiful plant will survive.
