Staghorn ferns are prone to attack by staghorn beetle. This tiny beetle lays its eggs under the surface of the leaves and as the eggs hatch and the larvae develop, their tunnels can cause small brown spots to appear on the tip of the leaves. These leaves will often turn brown and die. If you see this damage, remove the affected leaves. A contact spray may control the beetle if it is present.
