Why are the leaves of my potted palm turning yellow?
what is the name of this palm?
Hi Tidjun,
The palm appears to be a bamboo palm however it is difficult to identify due to over watering or under watering. Is the palm in a very windy position? Is the pot a self watering pot or does it have a saucer underneath the pot? A saucer filled with water can cause the soil to become waterlogged.
The brown spots on the leaves may be due to scale which is a small insect that can be scrapped using your fingernail. Apply PestOil control the scale.
If the spots can not be removed the spots are due to a leaf spot disease.Try to water the palm once a week and ensure the water does not sit in a saucer.
Apply some Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser to help improve the plant health. These ingredients will help with nutrient and water uptake.
