Hebes are hardy shrubs that will grow in a wide range of climates, including cool and coastal locations. There are compact varieties available which grow to around 40cm tall or larger hebes reaching 1 – 1.5 m. Flower colours include white, pink, lavender, purple and crimson. Some varieties also have striking variegated foliage or burgundy coloured new leaves


How to grow hebes in your garden

  1. Choose a sunny spot that receives shade in the afternoon and prepare the planting area well by digging in Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser.
  2. Dig a hole, place the plant in the bottom of the hole, backfill gently with soil and water in well.
  3. Mulch with an organic mulch, such as bark chips, sugar cane or pea straw and water in well.

How to grow hebes in a pot

  1. Choose a pot at least 300mm wide and deep. Position the pot in a spot that receives morning sun and afternoon shade. 
  2. Fill chosen pots with quality potting mix, such as Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter. Plant, backfill carefully with potting mix & water in well.
