sticky and glossy bamboo leaves

What insect would be causing my bamboo to be sticky and glossy on the leaves and what can I do to help it go?

Flowers and Ornamentals • Pests

Hello Penny, likely that would be a sap-sucking insect, and on bamboo that would often be Mealy Bugs or Aphids. Both suck the sweet, sticky sap out of the plant which can leave the leaves looking glossy. You may wish to try 'Yates Pest Oil - Insect Control Spray'. It's available in both a convenient ready-to-use spray and a concentrate form. Controls citrus leaf miner, scales, mites, mealybug, aphids and white fly on citrus, grapes, fruit trees, roses and ornamentals.
