When is the best time to prune my mature banksia ericifolia that is growing very close to a power line
It is only some sections that are the problem, and I really don't want to lose the tree as the birds love it.

Hello Val,
It is important that, if the tree is anywhere near power lines, you have a qualified arborist carry out the task for you, if safe to do so.
Banksia ericifolia may be pruned in early Autumn or Spring. It is unlikely that pruning will endanger the overall health of the tree, as long as clean tools and proper pruning techniques are used.
