What are common diseases on gerberas

My gerberas are dying. Apart from browning on the leaves the new growth (leaves and flower stems)are curling back towards the soil. The flower buds do not open. I don't think they will survive but I would like to know what killed them. Thank you Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Thank you for your question. Gerberas do attract some diseases and problems while they are growing. Sometimes they are sold as indoor plants when they do actually like growing in a sunny spot in the garden will a rich organic well drained soil. They can suffer from fungal diseases like powdery mildew and rust, Pests can include whitefly and aphids which are sap sucking insects which can cause the plants to be weak. Without knowing how your gerbera was growing its hard to say what has happened. Here is some information http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s3517437.htm I hope it helps
