Our new Gardenia Magnifica flowers are not forming properly.

The buds don't fully open and they're small and greenish (almost as if they're half leaves) and curled. Is it a pest?

Answer: Hi Fran,

From your description, it certainly seems like there is some pest causing havoc within the buds of your gardenia flowers, especially if they are not opening fully and appear distorted.

We suggest spraying the plants including the flowers with Yates Rose Gun Advanced as this product is registered for the control of many sap sucking insects including thrips, aphids and mites.

I’m sure your plants will perk up soon.

Kind regards, Kay.
