I have tried to plant Vegetable seedlings but they are eaten overnight, in 2 days they are all gone, I cannot see anything causing this, they are in barrels off the ground, so I rules out snails & slugs, it is very disheartening, well spent money is waste

Answer: Hi Sue,
I know how disappointing it can be when you go to such effort to grow your own vegetables, only to find that some little creature has devoured the overnight.

If snails are the culprit, you will find slimy trails left behind. This pest can be controlled by using some snail pellets. If it is caterpillar damage, again these annoying pest can be controlled by using products such as Success Naturalyte or Nature’s Way Dipel. While the seedlings are so small, you might try covering them with some netting to help protect them at this vulnerable stage.
