Lawn grub, but brown spiders

Each winter my well established buffalo lawn dies back a fair bit. This year I thought it might of been lawn grub (although it's autumn). When I treated it with a spray and then hosed it in hundreds of small brown spiders came out of the lawn???? What are they and are they doing the damage. Grateful for info

Answer: Hi Liza,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your lawn. There could be many type of garden spiders that are ground dwelling. They are not harmful to the grass, however, if you wish to eradicate them try Blitzem insect killer which suits indoor and outdoor insect control in household.

Hope this helps and happy gardening.
