What vegetables will be in season in October in WA

We would like to know what vegetables are in season in October in WA and when we would need to plant them for them to be producing at that time.

Answer: Hi Alison,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

With the warmer weather its the fruits that shine in October. These include blueberries, strawberries, figs, limes, mandarins, mangoes and passionfruits to name a few.

For vegetables, asparagus, broad beans, broccoli, bussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, peas lettuce, radishes, silver beat and spinach will be in season.

If you are looking at having some fresh vegetables in your garden in October it is best to start feeding your established fruit trees now and planting out vegetables such as peas, silver beets and spring onions. You can also plant out carrots, parsnips and broad beans as well.

Just remember to prepare your soil well prior to planting out with Yates Thrive Vegie & Herb Pelletised Plant Food. This will help add nutrients and organic matter to the soil to give your plants a real boost.
