When can I divide cannas and cut back lavender

Submitted: 06:26PM, 14 Aug 2016
Answer: Hi Sue,

Thank you for contacting Yates regarding your perennials, for Cannas, best time to divide is at the end of the flowering season, cut old stems down to within 2cm of the ground. Lift and divide the clumps every three years. If the new shoots haven’t appear yet, you can still divide now. For lavenders, it’s better to cut back every time after flowering to encourage bushy growth, but time depends on the varieties you have got.

Hope this helps and happy gardening.

Best Regards,
Louise
