Advice please. How to take cutting of crepe myrtle and can i place in pot.

My parents had a crepe myrtle in their yard. It stands at about 10 to 12 feet high. It is over 45 years old. My parents have passed on and i would like to take a cutting. Please advise best way and best time to do this. Also will i beable to put it in a pot? Thankyou.

Answer: Hi There Kaz, yes you can take cuttings of crepe myrtles when they go dormant in the winter time is the best time, hardwood cuttings would be the best. Here is some info that might help.
