Macadamia tree flowers but do not set

The flowers a prolific with bees and small insects but the flowers brown off and dry with no fruit. happened last couple of years this year the initial flowers do not seem to be setting either. In good river loam and watered

Answer: Hi Ian,
There is a caterpillar called the Macadamia flower caterpillar which feeds on the buds and flowers. The chewed pieces of flower are webbed together. If the infestation is heavy the few fruit will be set. Have a look at the flowers to see if there is any webbing present. Yates Success is effective against a range of caterpillars.
