Ted
bad infestation of white scale on our maidenhair fern. sprayed it with white oil but that made the problem worse - sprayed areas rotted. help!

how should we treat the white scale problem?

Answer: Hi Ted, cut the fern back to 1cm above soil level and spray or squash any remaining scale you can see. Fertilise with half-strength soluble Aquasol or Thrive and apply some seaweed tonic, the fern will bounce back in no time. keep an eye out for any reinfestation and squash them if they appear.
