Hi, I have a problems with pittosporums they apprear to be being attached by something and some have recently died. Thanks Neville

I have a hedge of pittosporums about 8 years old. A few have died recently and when I was removing the trees it appeard that there was little pods all over the branches near the trunk and up to the leaves. Is this a bug or a disease I can control before it kills the others, as it seems to be in smaller amounts on trees that are still alive.

Answer: Hi Neville, very hard to advise without seeing or knowing which species of pittosporum. Suggest take a sample to a nursery where horticulturist can identify and recommend treatment. The pods might not be related to the problem. Either way it sounds like the trees are under stress which makes them more prone to insects and diseases and dieback, possibly lack of water.
