What is the best grass for tropic conditions and part shade?

I live in Darwin. Between the dogs, chickens, dry season shade and minimal watering my front lawn is now totally bare dirt except for a few sparse patches of what I think is couch. I had lush broad leaf carpet grass previously. In the dry season half of the lawn is shaded. In the wet the other half is shaded. I need tough grass. Can you please advise. Thanks

Hi Debra,

Whatever grass you decide to grow, it will need to be very hardy to be able to cope with the extremes of temperature. There are sites that can give you some ideas on what grass best suits your situation www.munns.com.au has a handy lawn tool that you can ID the best option for your conditions.
