How do I treat my apricot tree that is oozing gum on its branches?

How do I treat a Apricot tree with oozing gum on a branch, can I spray it with something Thank you Gordon

Fruit and Citrus • Diseases

Gummosis is the result of disease or insect attack where sap oozes from a plant. In apricots, excessive gumming with wilting and dieback is the result of dead arm disease which gains entry via pruning cuts. To control this disease, prune off and burn infected material then apply Liquid copper noting the dose and timing of spray.
