How do I stop re-growth after pruning my geisha girls?

I have large geisha girls that I have I have made into Topiary but re-growth comes back from the bottom all the time......how or what do I do to stop this please.........is there something that I can paint on to the cut ends to stop re-growth without damaging the shrub

Sadly, there is no way to control regrowth after pruning. It is the tendency of the shrub to naturally send out shoots and these can only be controlled with further pruning.
