Hi Daryll,

It is likely that your lemon has what is called Brown Rot. It is a soil inhabiting fungi that is produced on the soil surface and during periods of rainy weather, particularly during autumn, the spores splash up onto the fruit that is on the lower branches of the tree. It is a good idea to prune the lower branches so they are about 300mm above the soil. That way the fruit have a better chance of not being infected by this fungus. To protect the fruit from being infected, you can use Yates Leaf Curl Copper Fungicide Spray before the onset of autumn rains. If prolonged wet weather occurs, apply a second spray during the first period of fine weather.
