Raise in trays of Yates Seed Raising Mix or sow direct into shallow rows. Keep moist and transplant after 8-10 weeks.

Select a sunny position with well drained organically-rich soil. Add Yates Blood & Bone and Yates Hydrangea Pinking Liquid Lime & Dolomite before planting. Water regularly and apply Yates Thrive Soluble Fertiliser for quick growth. Protect from snails and slugs with Yates Blitzem.

For whiter stems, exclude light by wrapping lower stems for the last few weeks before harvest. Pick outer stems with a sideways pull, leaving young leaves to continue growing. Companion plant with beans, leeks, tomatoes and peas.
