Overview

This product controls tougher weeds like blackberries, lantana and privet as well as stumps of unwanted trees, and many more. It can be applied as a spray or painted on stems and stumps and works by travelling through the plant’s system and killing it roots & all.

How to use

  • Dilute as per label instructions and apply with a sprayer or paint brush.
  • Can be mixed with water or with kerosene for improved penetration.

For Best Results

  • Apply in the warmer months when weeds are actively growing.
  • For Tree Stumps, Apply Yates® Tree & Blackberry Killer to the cut stump immediately after cutting, using a sprayer or brush application as per label instructions.

SITUATION WEEDS CONTROLLED RATE HOW TO APPLY
Overall spraying Blackberries, camphor laurel seedlings (up to 3m tall) 20mL per 1L water Apply from late spring to early autumn when bushes are actively growing. Wet all foliage and stems thoroughly. Any regrowth and seedlings should be sprayed after hardening. Do not spray blackberries suffering from drought stress. Do not spray bushes carrying mature or near mature fruit.
Gorse (not Tas), wattles, groundsel bush 20 – 40mL per 1L water Apply from spring to mid summer when growth is active. Use higher rate on older gorse bushes, tall wattles and groundsel bushes. Spray to wet all foliage and stems thoroughly. Repeat treatment of gorse regrowth may be necessary.
Basal bark spraying and cut stump treatment Eucalyptus and wattle seedlings and suckers, camphor laurel (not Vic and Tas), Australian blackthorn, lantana 100mL per 500mL of kerosene

Basal bark spraying – for treatment of seedlings up to 5cm diameter (up to 10cm for camphor laurel, groundsel bushes and privet). Spray or paint bark or around stems from ground to 30cm height, wetting thoroughly. Oldrough bark may require more thorough spraying than young smooth bark.

Cut stump treatment – apply to freshly cut stems of suckers and seedlings more than 5cm in basal diameter. Cut stems or trunks to within 15cm of the ground. Apply liberally by spraying or painting. Do not treat Australian blackthorn during the dormant period.
African boxthorn 100mL per 250mL of kerosene
Privet 100mL per 100mL kerosene

HOW TO PREPARE: Clean equipment thoroughly with soap and water after use. Equipment that has been used for herbicide should not be used for the application of other materials to sensitive plants. Grasses are usually unaffected and establish quickly after treatment.

CAUTION: DO NOT allow spray to contact or drift onto plants you do not want killed. DO NOT allow chemical containers or spray to get into drains, sewers, streams or ponds.

LIABILITY: This product must be used strictly as directed. Yates will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from a failure to strictly follow the directions for use.

STORAGE & DISPOSAL: Flammable – keep away from naked flame. Store in the closed, original container in a cool dry place out of reach of children. Do not store in direct sunlight. Dispose of empty container by wrapping in paper, placing in plastic bag and putting in garbage.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS: Poisonous if swallowed. May irritate the eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When opening the container, preparing spray and using the prepared spray wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and a washable hat and elbow length rubber gloves. Wash hands after use. After each days use wash gloves and contaminated clothing.
