How do I get rid of dianella caerulea that has infested my garden bed?

How do I eradicate it?

Australian Natives • Weeds

Hi Cheryl,

The Dianella caerulea is a very tough plant and the fibrous roots can form a dense mat. Is is grown for the pretty blue flowers and its drought hardy nature. If the garden bed has been overtaken with the plant then the best time to to control it with a herbicide is straight after flowering. The active ingredient in Zero is glyphosate and you may need to add a few drops of washing up liquid or a plant wetting agent when you spray to help penetrate the leaf surface. More then one spray will be required. Otherwise you may have to hand weed the area.
