Dear Greg,

When using herbicides/insecticides around pets, you always have to put your dog/cat in a safe place while you are spraying. Once the spray has dried on the surface of the leaf of the weed, then you can let your dog back into the area. I am presuming you are going to kill the weeds in your garden beds. For this purpose you can spray the existing weeds with a product called Zero Weedspray. If it is difficult to spray the weeds because of the close proximity to plants, you can use a Yates Weed brush. This will ensure that the product only contacts the weed that you want to kill and not harm the plants close by. Once the weeds have completely died down, you can then apply a mulch over your garden beds. You may need to re-apply the mulch every year to keep the weeds suppressed.
