Will Mop Top tree roots ruin my retaining wall over time

Retaining wall size approx 4m long x 1.5m wide x 1m deep How invasive are the root systems? Are there similar trees with less roots?

General Advice • Home Pest

Hi Rebecca,

This plant is notorious for suckering. I don't think you will have any problems with the roots but it will sucker and thus cause you much aggravation. You might consider removing this plant and planting a hedge of some kind which would better suit the situation. Lillypillies forms a nice thick tall hedge and would form a suitable screen for you. Perhaps you you might like to have a walk around your local nursery to look at these plants and perhaps any other that you may prefer.
