How to grow a string of bananas

  1. Choose a well-lit spot indoors or a full sun, protected position outdoors.
  2. Fill the pot with Yates Premium Potting Mix.
  3. Remove the plant from its container, try not to disturb the roots excessively. Give the foliage a light prune to encourage new shoots.
  4. Position the plant in the middle of the new pot. A hanging basket would be ideal. Fill in around the plant with potting mix and water in well.
  5. Water regularly in summer but reduce in cooler months.

Growing tips

  • To keep tidy, tip prune every couple of months. This will promote new dense growth.

  • Plants can be propagated easily by stem and leaf cuttings.

  • Check for pests and diseases regularly and treat accordingly.
