Wild Rockets

If you like your salads, pesto and pasta with a little more zing, then you’re going to love wild rocket! Wild rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia) has deep green, very serrated leaves that have a stronger peppery flavour than standard rocket.

Wild rocket is a perennial herb that’s hardy and drought tolerant once established. It will grow in both full sun and part shade and is perfect for growing out in the garden or in pots.

Growing Guide

  • Yates Wild Rocket seed can be sown throughout Australia during February and is best sown directly where the plants are to grow.
  • Cover lightly with Yates Seed Raising Mix (to a depth of 3 mm), press down and keep the soil or potting mix moist as the seedlings establish (seeds will germinate in 10 – 14 days).
  • Thin any excess seedlings so plants are around 20 – 30 cm apart.
  • Young and tender wild rocket leaves can be harvested from around 8 weeks.
  • Regular picking and feeding plants each week with a complete plant food like Yates Thrive Vegie & Herb Liquid Plant Food will encourage lots of tasty fresh leaves. It’s rich in nitrogen, one of the key nutrients that promotes healthy green leaf growth.
