after dipping cutting into purple hormone gel and planting do i then water the plant as normal? thanks Sue

Answer: After dipping your cuttings into hormone gel,insert them into damp seed raising or potting mix within a pot, then lightly water.

To increase your chances of a successful strike, create a makeshift mini greenhouse for your cuttings by either enclosing them in a soft drink bottle (base removed) or a wire frame and freezer bag. Secure the latter with a rubber band.

Greenhouses create an ideal environment for cuttings. The high level of humidity means plants will transpire less and focus their energy on establishing roots. You may not need to water very often because the soil will remain moist for a longer period of time – just monitor the situation.

Within a few months you can expect your cuttings to establish roots.
