How can I get my new lawn to catch onto the soil? The soil feels clayey and moist. Grass appears dead.

New lawn laid about 4 weeks ago. Grass is dried out despite watering. There is moisture in the soil but when dries it dries hard and cracks. Can this be fixed?

Answer: Hi Michael,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

Unfortunately, as the lawn has already been laid it may be too late to try and remove it and fix the soil. There may be new roots and shoots appearing and removing this can then damage the lawn further.

In this case, as the lawn is still quite young, we recommend giving it a dose of some Yates Waterwise Soil Saturator. This can be applied in granular or liquid form. This can assist with the soils water holding capabilities.

To give the lawn a bit of a health boost we using Dynamic Lifter Liquid Hose On. This product provides the goodness of Dynamic Lifter as well as seaweed to help ease any stress that the lawn is under. It also is light in nutrients so will give the lawn a very gentle feed to help it settle in.

Hopefully, this will assist you in getting that lawn up and running. If you do require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards
