Confidor Hose-on Lawn Insecticide on Sir Walter Buffalo

Can i use Confidor Hose-on Lawn Insecticide on Sir Walter Buffalo for 'cutworm'? If not, what can we use that will get rid of the little turds but be safe for the lawn? It is well rooted and damage only appears to be to the leaves, the roots are still strong.

Answer: Hi Bianca,
It is likely that the damage that has been done to your lawn has been caused by the armyworm. This grub is active in autumn and can decimate a lawn in a short period of time if not controlled. Armyworm chew the blade of the grass unlike the curl grub which chews on the roots of the grass.

Yates has a product called Complete Lawn Insect Control. This product will control curl grub, armyworm, cutworm, webworm, adult African black beetle, adult billbug and adult Argentine stem weevil.

This product comes in a hose-on container and will cover 150 sq.m of lawn area. Apply in the late afternoon as an overall treatment and repeat treatment if necessary.

Once you have eliminated this pest, apply a good quality lawn fertiliser, Yates Lawn Master which will promote new blade growth. You will find that your grass will respond very quickly with an aplication of this fertiliser.
