What's your best advice for growing pumpkins in Melb. -when to plant, seedlings or seeds etc

Submitted: 10:31AM, 07 Aug 2012
Answer: In Melbourne, pumpkins can be grown from seed in October. The seed should be sown directly into the garden but if you wish to get the vine started earlier, sow the seed into punnets in September. Use eight seeds to a punnet, pressing seeds into seed raising mix point side down. Cucurbits prefer to be on the dry side, so take care not to over-water them.
