Port Wine Magnolia is flowering now in March. Is it confused? I thought they flower in Spring?

I planted a dozen but only one is flowering now.

Answer: Hi Carol,
You are quite right, port wine magnolia does flower in spring. It is nice that you are getting a flush of flowers at the moment. We seem to have had an extended warm season this year so that could account for it. This plant has such an intoxicating perfume, so lovely to have in your garden. Enjoy.
