Medium_trailing_carnation I LIVE IN CAIRNS, FAR NORTH QLD AND WISH TO GROW CARNATIONS / DIANTHUS IN HANGING BASKETS, IS THIS POSSIBLE ?

I HAVE A WIDE SHADED PATIO WITH FERNS, BOUGAINVILLEA'S AND CAN POSITION THE BASKETS IN ANY AREA WITH SHADE TO FULL SUN, IN MELBOURNE I GREW "Dianthus caryophyllus Tyrolean Hanging Carnations" BUT I CANNOT FIND THE SEEDS LISTED ANY-MORE, DO YOU HAVE AN EQUIVALENT VARIETY ?, REGARDS PETE

Answer: Hi Peter,
The carnations are beautiful and look magnificent flowering in the trough pot. We do not have a suitable carnation variety but the Dianthus Blush Pink which is perfumed may be an alternative.

The humid weather conditions in Cairns may increase the incidence of rust. Sow the seeds from early Autumn until late Spring.
