Hi we have a japanese maple 10yo starting to grow well but the leaves turn yellow and very brown in autumn

Will it improve with age or treatment? Otherwise we would replace it with a red leaved variety

Answer: Hi Jonathan,

Most Japanese maple leaves will colour up in a range of autumn tones but the colour will depend on the species or cultivar. If, after ten years, the colour of your tree remains unchanged, it is doubtful that it will change. If you prefer a red leaved maple you will have to purchase a particular cultivar.
