Medium_graping_ornamental_vine Ornamental grape vine fruiting

My ornamental grape vine is covered in bunches of seeds that gradually fall off over several months (see attached photo) although a significant proportion also form small grapes that also drop off before fully maturing. The problem is getting worse each year as the seeds and grapes make a mess on the patio and are bad for hay fever. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in future years?

Answer: Hi Steven,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

It seems that your ornamental grape vine is not so ornamental. The amount of flowering and fruit production on this vine indicates to me that it is a bearing fruit vine. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this issue, other than to remove the vine and plant an ornamental variety.

You can try promoting more leaf production by using a fertiliser such as Thrive All Purpose Soluble, however, there is no guarantee that this will prevent or reduce the amount of fruit produced.

Kind regards
