I live in Port Macquarie on a canal so right on the water - few kms from the sea. What gardening zone am I

We want to re-do the garden which is very sad looking and I'm pretty ignorant about plants. What gardening zone are we? Want an easy care, maybe lush looking. Love foliage, blue or white flowers. Can you assist.

Answer: Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for contacting Yates.

Port Macquarie is located in the Temperate Zone for gardening. However, with your location close to the water, you will need to account for salt spray.

The best plants for your environment would be those that are either first line salt or second line salt tolerant. These plants are able to handle the sea breezes that you would get from the water.

Take a look at these links to give you a guide as to the best plants for your garden:

Enjoy the gardening!

Kind regards
