Jeanette
gardenia are looking like they want to curl up and die, shrivelling, yellowing and the flowers dont open and brown off

our gardenias were planted in April 2009 in our newly renovated garden. the poor blighters are now yellowing, drying on the end, the flowers are browning off and generally looking like they are dying. We have feed them seasol. How much water do they like??? a little or a lot, feed or dont? what should we do?? This was even before the stinking hot weather in Melbourne this week.
thanks

Answer: Hi Jeanette, sounds like many things have gone wrong here. Hard to say without knowing what they have been fed with so far and what the soil is like. They need good drainage and a fertile slightly acidic soil. they need regular feeding and dont like the soil to dry out at all. They will also not tolerate wet feet.
