advice on how to turn a dirt/sand yard covered with very old bark into a garden with grass. what can we do

Answer: Hi Fabienne,

Thank you for contacting us.

There are a few steps that we can follow to make your yard in to a beautiful lush lawn/garden.

If you have weeds growing in your yard, you can get rid of them by using Yates Zero Weedkiller Super Concentrate. Click here for more info: http://www.yates.com.au/products/weed-control/gardens-paths-and-driveways-non-selective-control/zero-weedkiller-super-concentrate

After the weeds are dead (about 3 weeks time) we suggest tilling your yard with a hand held rotavator and bring the soil to a fine tilth and the old bark can also get mulched into soil or you can remove it before tilling. You can then sow the type of lawn grass seeds you wish to have, here is a list of our products – http://www.yates.com.au/search?cx=011149492506336809386%3Anlkx6aiaza0&cof=FORID%3A11&ie=UTF-8&q=lawn+seed&sa=#uAOETcUG0yrY8Ork.97

For a healthy soil you can add Dynamic Lifter Organic Lawn Food and give a boost to your new lawn before or after the sowing/broadcasting the lawn seeds.

Hope this information is helpful, if you do have further queries do let us know.

Kind regards,

Eric
