Deb
How do I prune a mulberry tree to encourage larger fruit? My tree is full of very small mulberries as it is every year. Thanks

The tree is a weeping mulberry which has a nice shape.

Answer: Hi Deborah,

To keep your mulberry tree healthy and producing a good crop, you will need to feed your tree with a good quality fertiliser especially for fruiting trees. I would suggest Dynamic Lifter Advance for Fruit & Citrus. This product is an organic based fertiliser comprising, composted chicken manure with added mineral nutrients that will boost nutrient levels.

Because you have a weeping mulberry, best to trim to shape rather than prune heavily otherwise you will spoil the natural shape of the tree. The best time to do any pruning is when the tree is dormant in winter. I am sure once the tree receives all the necessary nutrients, it will give you lots of good quality juicy fruits.
