when should i spray to stop fruit fly?

had large out break in fruit trees last year thinking they will b in soil already so want to spray with something to break the cycle

Answer: Hi Emily,
It is best to monitor the trees using a fruit fly trap as this will determine when it is the best time to treat.

After the fruit has formed place the traps in the tree and as the fruit starts to colour then spraying can commence. Yates Nature’s Way Fruit Fly Killer contains a protein and spinosad which is attractive to the fly. It is applied to the trunk and foliage (not the fruit)and the fruit fly consumes the bait and dies.
