Dwarf apple tree planted last winter has set fruit now - i.e. In autumn. Should I remove the fruit?

Answer: Hi Catherine,

Thank you for contacting us regarding growing apples, how exciting to include an apple tree in the backyard. I would suggest to hand remove all flowers and young fruits in the first couple of years to allow apple trees to become well-established, as flowers and fruits take lots of energy from a tree, which they should be used on establishing roots and form a nice crown. In the third year, allow the tree to bear a small crop. You may also try to apply a good handful of Dynamic Lifter Organic Plant Food, which is a manure based organic fertiliser, to provide all nutrients your tree needed to grow and thrive.

Hope this helps and happy gardening.

Best Regards,
Louise
