I have a lisbon lemon. This year the fruit has not matured to any size and has rust coloring internally. Cy

Their also appears to be pin holes on the outer skin, but there is no evidence of a grub on the inside just rust coloring. Last summer we did have lots of fawn colored moths the end product of which was blackish caterpillars, I sprayed with Confidor which seemed to knock them over. But the internal rust has made the fruit unusable.

Answer: Hi Cyril,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your lemon tree, discoloring on the flesh can caused by sap-sucking insects such as bronze orange bugs or spined citrus bugs. Protect the tree with fine netting and spray with Yates Nature’s Way Citrus & Ornamental Spray. Click here for more info: http://www.yates.com.au/products/organic-gardening/pest-disease-control/Natures-Way-citrus-and-ornamental-spray/

Hope this helps and happy gardening.

Best Regards,
