Medium_kentia_spots Kentia palm develops new fronds with yellow-brown or translucent spots

We have a young Kentia palm, about 1.5 m tall. Overall, the plant looks healthy, but the leaflets of several of the younger fronds appear mottled, especially when viewed against the light (see photo). The spots are yellow or light brown, sometimes with a small dark spot in the middle. They are flat, i.e. inside the leaf rather than elevated above its surface, and hey cannot be washed away with a damp cloth.

Do you have any advice as to what we might be dealing with, and how to treat it?

Thank you very much

Answer: Hi Felix,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your Kentia palm. The spots look like bacterial leaf spot to me, I would suggest trimming off the damaged leaves and spray with Yates liquid copper fungicide at the 5ml/L rate. Most palm disease is watering related, make sure the potting mix is well draining and the pot is not sitting in a tray with water. You can read more information about Palm care from the following link: http://www.yates.com.au/gardening/grow/palms/

Hope this helps and happy gardening.

Best Regards,
