In a temperate climate is it best to lift Gladioli bulbs after the foliage has died back? And is it possible to naturalise bulbs in a Buffalo/Palmetto lawn?

Answer: Dear Bob,

I really don’t think that Gladioli bulbs naturalise well in a buffalo lawn. It is quite a tall growing bulb and generally needs some kind of support. Some of the smaller bulbs such as jonquils and daffodils look much better in a lawn situation.

After the leaves start to yellow and die down, you can lift the bulbs. Dust the corms with a fungicide and store in a dry, cool place until the next planting season.
