Cats and Lillies

Hi, my husband is nerveous about lilies in our garden as he has heard that cats may be allergic to them or they are poisonous to cats. I have several beautiful Jacobean lily bulbs from my previous garden. Will they harm our furry friends??

Answer: Hi Lili,

There are a number of plants that can be poisonous to cats. All parts of the Lilium plant are poisonous to cats if eaten. If you suspect that your cat may eat the foliage or flower of the Jacobean lilly, it would be advisable not to plant the bulbs. I am sure if you spoke to your Vet, he would be able to advise you further.
